As the spread of the COVID-19 virus intensifies in the U.S., MALA is working around the clock with our partners and community members to provide resources to those who are most vulnerable. Today, MALA’s Executive Director, Zainab Khan joined legendary fashion designer Naeem Khan and Kalid Loul, Global Geeks founder and MALA Board member to deliver 150 handmade masks for healthcare workers at Long Island Community Hospital. In response to MALA’s donation, Richard Margulis, the Hospital’s President and CEO stated:
“There is nothing more important than protecting our dedicated and hardworking Nurses, physicians, and Hospital staff during this unprecedented National Health Care crisis. We truly appreciate [MALA’s] concern and efforts to provide this needed donation so we can continue our mission of providing life-saving care for our beloved community…This demonstrates we are all community right now. I can not thank you all enough for answering the call for support. You have truly made a difference.”

Through strategic partnerships and community alliances, MALA is pledging to donate over 5,000 masks along with other PPE equipment in the coming weeks. During this time of grief and uncertainty, MALA remains committed to acting with positivity and generosity. We stand with the thousands and thousands of brave individuals in the medical field who have put themselves at risk to care for those in need.
