Blank Canvas

February 23, 2023 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Every February, the U.S. honors the contributions and sacrifices of African Americans who have helped shape the nation. Black History Month celebrates the rich cultural heritage, triumphs, and adversities that are an indelible part of our country’s history.

In honor of these values, MALA invites you to join us on a unique collage workshop Titled “ Blank Canvas; Celebrating Black History Month.” with Tijay Mohammed.

Our first Blank Canvas edition will take place on February, 23rd, 2023 at the Prime Produce | 424 W 54th St, New York, NY 10019, starting at 06.00 pm.

About the workshop

At this workshop, Tijay will help, and facilitate the creation of a mixed-media collage portrait of your role model, favorite leader, or family member. Bring your photo (printed portrait) and we will provide you with the materials you need to put together the art piece that you’ll take with you at the end of the workshop.
Other than networking, and meeting with the artist, you will get the chance to share your story with the portrait you’re creating, and hear from the artist about his journey, in the Q/A session.
