The Official 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence Campaign runs from 25th November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to 10th December, Human Rights Day. 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence is a time to galvanize action to end violence against women and girls around the world. It is time to take stock of the progress made and commit to take action to close the gaps that are holding women and girls back.

“Prevention” is the 2015 theme, and UN Women, along with other partners are committed to gender equality, work to provide theories of change to underpin action. MALA is joining the campaign to amplify voices and personal narratives to further increase advocacy, outreach, and education.

Increasingly, social media has become a resource for many activists around the world to promote human rights through calls for action; sharing of information; reporting on violations taking place; and mobilizing others placed in faraway geographic locations on issues effecting wide regions or entire communities. Through story-telling, MALA believes in building momentum and increasing social justice activism as a powerful tool to inform, engage, and trigger widespread support for human rights principles.
